This impressive 42m-high stone dedication curve was structured by Lutyens in 1921. India Gate pays tribute to around 90,000 Indian Army warriors who passed on in WWI, the Northwest Frontier activities and the 1919 Anglo-Afghan War. The chhatri behind it contained a sculpture of George V, later moved to Coronation Park. The curve has a steady buzz of sightseers, budhdhi ke bal (‘old woman’s hair’ – candyfloss) venders and different sellers.
